Becoming a dispensing optician or optometrist gives you a range of options for your career. Some people may enjoy the clinical side of the role, while others may like to focus on management and retail. If you would like to have control over all aspects of the business, have you thought about running your own optical practice?
You can discover more about running a practice at the ABDO Become an Independent Optician twilight session. This event is free of charge and takes place in Birmingham from 3pm to 7pm. It is open to those studying optometry and dispensing optics, as well as those already working in practice.
Network and share ideas
At this informative event on Tusday 11 October you will have chance to hear from, and speak with, independent opticians as well as organisations and businesses that support the independent optician sector.
You will hear from independent opticians Clive Marchant, John Stevenson and Eva Dave about their experiences.
In small groups you will then have time visiting each organisation for an overview of how they can offer support. Those supporting organisations and businesses are:
- AIO
- Sightcare
- NEG
- Eyeplan
- Eyewear Styling Academy
- Myers La Roche
- Performance Finance
- Specs Network
There is no charge to attend the event. Refreshments are provided and there will be informal networking time giving opportunity to go back to speak to third parties, independent opticians and to speak to other delegates attending.
As part of the wrap-up session we will run a Q&A session where you have another opportunity to ask questions of the experts in the room.
Don’t miss this great opportunity to find out more about being an independent optician.
